Lake Bruin State Park in northeastern Louisiana is a hot spot for fishing, even if you don’t have a boat. And it’s the perfect place for enjoying beautiful sunsets.
For a state park, Lake Bruin is on the small side with only 53 acres. It’s located on the site of an old 1928 fish hatchery, tucked away in moss-draped cypress trees in the flat delta farm region of Louisiana. But it sits on the shoreline of a 3,000 acre lake. And those who fish here are all smiles when you ask if they expect to catch anything. There is a boat launch inside the state park. But there are also a couple of long fishing piers. One of them even has a wooden roof. On the other pier, you stand beneath tall cypress trees while you wait for the fish to bite.
Lake bruin has shoreline campsites
A number Lake Bruin’s campsites allow you to park the camper or RV at the edge of the lake. For the children, there is a small sandy swimming beach in the clear-water lake and a splash pad for cooling off on a hot afternoon. And for day visitors and campers, the park has a large picnic pavilion and a play area.
it’s showtime at sunset!
You don’t want to miss sunset. If the weather cooperates, grab a chair or fishing pole and stand on the long pier that parallels the shoreline in Lake Bruin’s campground. Here you will watch the sky change color as the sun dips below the horizon. The cypress trees add the perfect Louisiana accent to the scene. This is a great place for relaxing and taking pictures.
