I really enjoy taking photographs around Louisiana and I am always eager to learn about new places that show off the unique beauty of our state.
A friend invited me to drive to Lake Hermitage Road in Plaquemines Parish where you can see an old grove of oak trees that were killed by salt water in the storm surge of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
These dead trees create a striking image and there are countless ways to photograph them as the light and sky change.

Hello Mr McNamara, have you ever seen the huge, huge oak tree in Bunkie, La? It is located next to the Bailey House (senior citizens assistance living). It is on plantation type property. Used to be owned by the Nash family. Tree is very old. I’m sure you can find history on the place. Just the tree is worth seeing. Thank you. I really enjoy your shows.

Thank you for the suggestion Sharon. The next time I am near Bunkie I will check it out!
