Lake D’Arbonne State park in northern Louisiana attracts visitors with its forested hilly landscape and 15,000 acre lake. And long fishing piers put anglers and photographers beyond the lake’s wooded shoreline.
The state park has a boat launch for fishermen who want to explore Lake D’Arbonne. But the parks five fishing piers give everyone a chance to drop a line and try to hook a bass, crappie, perch or catfish.
The long piers get you far beyond the treeline and provide great views at sunrise or sunset. And the park’s relatively dark sky creates an opportunity for star gazing.

This park offers several trails for hiking that take advantage of the hilly, tree-covered landscape. The nearly four-mile long Cypress Bend Trail loops around the park’s perimeter and takes you near the lake’s shoreline. And you will experience some of the hills of Lake D’Arbonne State Park with an elevation change of more than 200 feet over the length of the trail. Even young children get in on the action with an easy Kid’s Trail where children can look for wooden cutouts of forest animals.

This state park has 16 vacation cabins that each sleep up to 8 people. The cabins are located in heavy woods on sites that overlook the lake. Lake D’Arbonne has about 60 campsites for RV’s and tents. The park also features a swimming pool that’s open Thursday through Sunday during the summer months. You can play disc golf on a course that curves its way through the hilly landscape. And 5 fishing piers are located throughout the park in day use and campground areas.
